GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

This intermediate position will work closely with the marketing team to assist in developing and implementing marketing plans and strategies for our brands. This position will be utilized in a wide range of projects and tasks to assist with marketing department objectives including, but not limited to, writing, using graphic software, providing support with social media, digital marketing, trade show, and conference planning.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & KRA (Key Result Areas):

> Safety/Culture

  • Continuously maintains Orenco Management's safety, cultural, and professional standards.
  • Promotes, encourages, and reinforces a positive safety culture, safe practices, and a safe work environment to all employees.
  • Keeps work area clean and free from safety hazards.

> Marketing Assistant

  • Consults with the Marketing and Communications Director, team leads, and internal customers to discuss, plan, and prioritize individual projects.
  • Supports the marketing team with meeting notes and administrative tasks to ensure the functionality and coordination of the department's projects and activities.
  • Supports marketing executives in organizing various projects.

> Digital Marketing Assistant

  • Assists Webmaster to:
    • Provide ongoing maintenance and optimization of Orenco's outward-facing websites.
    • Maintain style guidelines across web pages.
    • Add metadata to images and other elements on web pages to improve SEO (search engine optimization).
    • Continually review and make changes to ongoing SEO efforts to improve clickthrough rates, traffic, and conversions.

> Assists Social Media team to:

  • Manage Orenco Water Divisions Instagram and Twitter accounts, including composing, scheduling, and posting content after approval by social media group.
  • Help add content to the company's social media profile and presence for Orenco's Controls and Composites divisions.

> Entry-Level Design Assistant

  • Works with the graphics team to:
    • Use corporate graphic standards and templates to edit existing documents.
    • Organize marketing photo library.

> Tradeshow Equipment Coordination

  • Works with the Tradeshow Lead to:
    • Maintain and update Trade Show Reference Manual.
    • Make minor edits to tradeshow display materials.
    • Research/purchase new trade show equipment and booth furnishings, as necessary.
    • Create and update spreadsheets to track tradeshow equipment that returns from shows.
    • Enter tradeshow leads into CRM (Customer Relations Management) after show completion.

> Training Assistant

  • Works with the Senior Training Specialist to:
    • Onboarding & staff training
      • Help with tracking internal staff learning.
  • Education Material Library
    • Maintain and update Orenco's Education Material Library.
    • Deliver and track material checked out by Orenco staff.

> Work to be done during manufacturing business hours, which may include an occasional early and/or later shift as needed. Occasional long hours may be required.


EDUCATION:

AA degree or equivalent education and experience in business environment. BA preferred.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple and concurrent projects and tasks.
  • Ability to read and listen well, write and speak clearly, spell accurately, and proof own work.
  • Knowledgeable in key areas of website design, SEO, social media, and content marketing.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to easily learn and effectively use new software.
  • Ability to quickly understand and contribute to new projects.
  • Ability to shift priorities quickly and efficiently.
  • Proficient in use of computer and computer programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, InDesign).
  • Bonus skills: HTML/CSS (HyperText Markup Language/Cascading Style Sheets), Adobe Creative Suite (willing to train).
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to priority changes with little notice and to remain calm during confrontational or high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to use sound judgement and follow-through in problem-solving and decision-making processes.
  • Must have satisfactory driving record, maintain valid driver's license, and current insurance on personal vehicle if used for business. Must meet company insurability requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Primarily indoor office environment with occasional exposure to outside and warehouse environments.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Regular job duties include seeing, speaking, hearing, reading, writing, keyboarding, prolonged periods of sitting including extended time viewing a computer screen. Intermittent physical activity including standing, walking, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, holding, bending, twisting, stooping, squatting, and occasional light lifting of under 20 lbs. May also include occasional unassisted lifting of up to 50 lbs., occasionally up to 70 lbs. Lifting over 70 lbs. must be assisted. Occasional operation of a motor vehicle.
