Infiltrator Water Technologies is a market leader within the onsite wastewater treatment industry, Infiltrator manufactures a variety of revolutionary products and innovative, environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional stone and pipe leachfield and concrete septic wastewater system components. We sell our products through wholesale distribution across the United States and Canada for use on properties with onsite wastewater treatment systems.


GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a technical level position that requires coordination, servicing, troubleshooting, sampling, testing, maintaining, and reporting on Orenco R&D (Research and Development) and contract O&M (Operation and Maintenance) projects. The key responsibilities will be to work on R&D projects throughout the construction and testing periods to ensure that all design parameters are maintained, equipment malfunctions are prevented, systems are maintained, and that all design changes, modifications, malfunctions, etc. are thoroughly documented and reported as they occur. Field work will include equipment installation, testing, sampling, maintaining, and troubleshooting. Assistance with water quality testing will be conducted in Orenco's lab. The position will require working closely with personnel across Orenco's O&M/Lab, Facilities, and R&D divisions.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and KRA (Key Result Areas):

> Safety/Culture

  • Continuously maintains Orenco management's safety, cultural, and professional standards.
  • Promotes, encourages, and reinforces a positive safety culture, safe practices, and a safe work environment to all employees.

> R&D Project Implementation

  • Interpret plans, drawings, and models to build and configure test prototype systems.
  • Operate and maintain Orenco R&D projects and products, carefully documenting all steps and actions taken, with timely communication to team members.
  • Accurately gather and diligently maintain data from testing in spreadsheets.
  • Work with R&D personnel to adapt and improve projects and products as needed during investigations and testing.

> System or Product Assessment

  • Work with R&D staff to establish and prepare project plans, with timelines, testing needs, and reporting protocols.
  • Prepare reports and coordinate performance briefings as required (weekly, monthly, or more frequently if necessary).
  • Participate in product performance evaluations and upgrades as necessary.
  • Assess components and suggest alternative or replacement parts or reconfiguring of setups.

> Operation and Maintenance/Water Quality Laboratory

  • Work with O&M personnel to conduct field work on R&D and contract site maintenance and sampling as specified in project plans and contracts.
  • Implement troubleshooting, corrective action and repair/replacement protocols as required.
  • Complete and maintain thorough field maintenance reports.
  • Strictly follow proper procedures for sampling, storing, and transporting influent and effluent from all systems.
  • Interact respectfully with the public and system owners while working in the field.
  • Learn and perform required lab tests per standard methods under the direction of the lab supervisor. Carefully prepares lab bench sheets and reports as required.
  • Proactively maintain a clean and safe lab environment at all times. Strictly following hazardous materials and personal protection protocols.

> Work to be done during regular business hours, coordinating with co-workers to ensure proper alignment and coverage. Occasional early and/or later shift hours may be needed.

> Ability to be flexible and change priorities with little notice.

> Regular, consistent, and predictable attendance is required.

> Performs other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate or bachelor's degree in an engineering or science discipline is preferred. Training and certifications in field servicing and/or laboratory work are ideal.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Two or more years of job or industry related experience.
  • Possess or be willing to obtain onsite maintenance and limited electrical certification.
  • Knowledge of Orenco systems and products, including control systems.
  • Knowledge of wastewater treatment, hydraulics, pumps, and electricity.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools in product manufacturing and assembly.
  • Proficient at systematic troubleshooting and mechanical repairs.
  • Provides professional, courteous, customer service to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Maintains a positive and solutions-focused work environment.
  • Displays a high level of interpersonal skills, handles sensitive and confidential situations in a discreet and responsible manner.
  • Performs strenuous physical labor in all weather conditions.
  • Consistently follows oral and written instructions and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated competence with applications such as word-processing, spreadsheets, and email.
  • Accurately prepares reports, records, and statistical data.
  • Proven excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent math skills required, and knowledge of chemistry is preferred.
  • Ability to be flexible and change priorities with little notice.
  • Ability to use sound judgement and follow through in problem solving and decision making processes.
  • Must be willing and able to travel. Must be able to comply with current travel regulations and guidelines of airlines and destination locations.
  • Must be able to meet and maintain Orenco's approved driver criteria; a valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record, current insurance on personal vehicle, and meet company insurability requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Primarily indoor/outdoor working environments and may include time in production areas and at project sites. Travel requirements include frequent operation of a motor vehicle as travel will be required and may include airplane travel, and overnight stays in temporary lodging. Requires the ability to visit project sites that are situated on a variety of developed and undeveloped terrain/locations. Includes exposure to outside weather conditions, occasional exposure to dust, other outside elements, chemicals and regular exposure to wastewater, some require proper use of PPE (personal protective equipment including but not limited to gloves, face shields, respirator, and masks. Respirators are available and may be worn if medical certification and proper fit training are completed. Work to be done during manufacturing business hours, which may include an occasional early and/or later shift as needed. Occasional overtime may be required.

Clerical job duties require some time spent in a typical office environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Regular job duties include seeing, speaking, hearing, reading, writing, legible handwriting, keyboarding, prolonged periods of sitting including extended time viewing a computer screen. Intermittent physical activity includes but is not limited to touching, holding, grasping, pushing, pulling, reaching above shoulders and below knees, low back bending, twisting, turning, kneeling, crawling, stooping, squatting, standing, walking, and climbing stairs and ladders. Unassisted light lifting and/or carrying of under 20 lbs. is required. May also include occasional unassisted lifting and/or carrying of up to 50 lbs., lifting and/or carrying over 50 lbs. must be assisted. Operation of a motor vehicle and/or airplane travel may be required. Travel needs are determined by the department supervisory staff based on business need, required skill base, and assigned job tasks and responsibilities. Travel may require the ability to visit project sites that are situated on a variety of developed and undeveloped terrain/locations.
