GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
This is an advanced-level position that provides project management and wastewater treatment process technical support for AdvanTex® and MBBR (moving bed biofilm reactor) treatment processes. Work will generally be focused on projects that involve stringent nutrient limits and/or high strength influent wastewater. The Senior Wastewater Process Engineer will regularly interact with internal Orenco staff, contractors/installers, designers/engineers, our business partners (a.k.a. distributors, dealers, and suppliers), service providers, and regulators regarding these projects. The Senior Wastewater Process Engineer will be responsible for preparing treatment recommendations, reviewing designs, recommending process changes, and troubleshooting existing wastewater processes. The Senior Wastewater Process Engineer will prepare a wide range of project specific documentation including, but not limited to, proposals, specifications, design review letters, and quotes. The Senior Wastewater Process Engineer will also work closely with R&D (Research & Development) to communicate customer feedback and observations.

> Systems Engineering Support
- Assists with the project management of commercial and municipal collection and/or treatment opportunities.
- Provides a variety of design support services for commercial and municipal collection and/or treatment projects. These activities include, but aren't limited to, proposals, plan reviews, design review letters, specifications, project submittals, project specific drawings, quotes, and custom O&M (Operation & Maintenance) manuals.
- Researches, reviews, and processes orders for commercial and municipal collection and/or treatment projects.
- Reviews and approves the work of other team members within the systems engineering team.
- Leads or supports research projects.
- Supports the commissioning of commercial and municipal collection and/or treatment systems.
> Utility Operations Support
- Assists the Utility Operations Support group with troubleshooting existing treatment processes.
- Travels to existing treatment systems as necessary to troubleshoot, solicit feedback and/or collect data.
> Reporting
- Thoroughly documents all tasks and customer interactions in CRM (Customer Relations Management).
- Inputs, updates, and ensures accuracy of customer contact information in CRM.
- Maintains an accurate, up-to-date, CRM opportunity database.
- Provides accurate, up-to-date, opportunity forecasting reports.
- Submits and distributes timely activity and trip reports.
- Summarizes and provides information to the R&D group regarding existing designs.
> Is familiar with all Orenco-related products and technologies.
> Is familiar with 3rd party equipment used on commercial and municipal treatment systems.
> Will occasionally perform additional duties of systems engineering team, the regional sales team, utility operations support, and customer service team.
> Work is to be done during manufacturing business hours, which may include an occasional early and/or later shift as needed. Occasional long hours may be required.
> Regular, consistent, and predictable attendance is required.
> Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
A Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree or higher is required. PE registration is a plus.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of five years' experience in wastewater process design or manufacturing.
- MBBR and/or attached growth wastewater process experience.
- Above average organizational skills are required.
- Ability to communicate in a professional, courteous, customer service-oriented manner.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Ability to give technical presentations to a large audience.
- Ability to successfully interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds and extreme variations in educational levels.
- Competent ability with applications such as word-processing, spreadsheets, and email.
- Must be willing and able to travel a minimum of 10% of the work time. This requirement will fluctuate depending on the region assignments, market maturity, other regional resources, territory size, business needs and other objectives.
- Travel requirement includes meeting current travel requirements with airlines as well as in final destinations.
- Ability to be flexible and change priorities with little notice and to remain calm during confrontational or high-pressure situations.
- Ability to use sound judgement and follow through in problem solving and decision making processes.
- Must have satisfactory driving record, maintain valid driver's license, and current insurance on personal vehicle if used for business. Must meet company insurability requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Primarily office environment. Travel requirements will include operation of a motor vehicle, airplane travel, and overnight stays in temporary lodging.
Requires the ability to visit project sites that are situated on a variety of developed and undeveloped terrain/locations. Includes exposure to outside weather conditions when at customer sites. Conducting field work may include occasional exposure to wastewater, requiring proper use of personal protective equipment including but not limited to gloves.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Regular job duties include seeing, speaking, hearing, reading, writing, keyboarding, prolonged periods of sitting including extended time viewing a computer screen. Intermittent physical activity including standing, walking, climbing stairs and/or ladders, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, holding, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, squatting, driving, and occasional light lifting of under 20 lbs. May also include occasional unassisted lifting of up to 50 lbs., occasionally up to 70 lbs. Lifting over 70 lbs. must be assisted. Operation of a motor vehicle and airplane travel with the ability to visit project sites that are situated on a variety of developed and undeveloped terrain/locations, is and/or may be required.
