GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

The Supply Chain and Logistics Manager will oversee the planning, procurement, storage, control, and distribution of purchased or processed materials and products according to company needs and customer requirements.

The Supply Chain and Logistics Manager supervises buyers, receiving/inventory management staff, material handlers and production control. The Supply Chain and Logistics Manager may manage shipping staff as well.

The Supply Chain and Logistics Manager is responsible for the operation of Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) Software and works with production control to optimize material planning


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & KRA (Key Result Areas):

> Safety/Culture

  • Continuously maintains Orenco Management's safety, cultural, and professional standards.
  • Promotes, encourages, and reinforces a positive safety culture, safe practices, and a safe work environment to all employees.
  • Maintains Orenco Systems safety, cultural, and professional standards.

> Leadership and Management

  • Directs the mentoring, management, and training of staff in the supply chain functions.
  • Builds and maintains trust and strong working relationships
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Establishes career paths and succession plans for department.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.

> Planning & Logistics

  • Evaluates software enhancements or add-ons for the materials requirements planning function and develops scalable solutions, occasionally working with internal or external application developers.
  • Develops, maintains, and monitors level-loading applications.
  • Oversees the scheduling of sales orders and sets system throughput calculations.
  • Establishes systems and SOPs (standard operating procedures) to meet on-time delivery utilizing plant and people capacity.
  • Coordinates expedite requests, maintains systems providing current order status.
  • With sales leadership, develops product family forecasts and seasonal trends in order to reduce lead times, increase efficiency, and smooth production flow.
  • Negotiates priorities and maintains communication between sales, purchasing, and production control staff regarding shipping schedules, RM (raw material) outages, order status, capacity alerts, expedited delivery requests, machinery failures, and FG (finished goods) inventory availability.
  • Directs materials requirements planning based on sales order and forecasts.
  • Establishes and maintains inventory levels to ensure deliveries can occur within customer timelines.
  • Identifies opportunities and executes plans to reduce transportation and storage costs.

> Analysis and Reporting

  • Collects statistical data and reports KPIs (key performance indicators) used in supply chain labor costing analysis/capacity planning.
  • Organizes, maintains, and reports an inventory count of finished goods and work-in-process as needed, in addition to annual (or as-needed) submission to accounting for fiscal year-end inventory valuation.
  • Identifies opportunities to reduce transportation and storage costs.
  • Evaluates and reports on market issues that may require preemptive actions (e.g, expediting orders or increased inventory holdings).

> Procurement and Vendor Relations and Management

  • Directs purchasing staff in reviewing forecasting information and establishing appropriate levels of inventory.
  • Oversee the research and qualification of backup vendors for critical materials; ensures redundant vendors in place.
  • Oversees relations with vendors/suppliers to ensure uninterrupted supply of raw materials and stable pricing.
  • Directs the Material Controls Manager in resolving problems with RM outages and delivery schedules.

> Work to be done during manufacturing business hours, which may include an occasional early and/or later shift as needed. Occasional long hours may be required.

> Regular, consistent, and predictable attendance is required.

> Performs other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION:

Bachelors degree in Supply Chain and Logistics Management, or equivalent


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Firm grasp of supply chain, inventory, distribution, business, and management principles.
  • 5+ years' experience with production panning.
  • 5+ years' experience running MRP (Material Requirements Planning) (GP Manufacturing, SAP, etc.) software.
  • 5+ years' experience with materials management.
  • 5+ years' experience with purchasing and supplier management in manufacturing.
  • Completion of initial 8-hour Emergency Response & HW (HazWopper) Operations level training is required. Completion of the annual Eight-hour HazWopper-Operations Level training is required thereafter.

Training description: Emergency communication, alarms and evacuation routes, contingency plan implementation/emergency response procedures, emergency equipment use and inspection, incident response (fire, explosion, soil, and water contamination), and site shut down procedures. Hazardous waste management - handling and storage rules.

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work well with all levels of management and staff.
  • Proficient with inventory reporting systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Proficient with MRP software.
  • Proficient with report building in appropriate applications (i.e., PowerBI, DBMS's, etc.
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to priority changes with little notice and to remain calm during confrontational or high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to use sound judgement and follow-through in problem-solving and decision-making processes.
  • Must have satisfactory driving record, maintain valid driver's license, and current insurance on personal vehicle if used for business. Must meet company insurability requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Regular job duties include seeing, speaking, hearing, reading, writing, keyboarding, periods of sitting including time viewing a computer screen. Time on manufacturing floor includes prolonged periods of standing and walking on concrete floors, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, holding, measuring, cutting, stacking, bending, twisting, stooping, squatting, repetitive foot and hand movement with good manual dexterity. Duties may require unassisted lifting of up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 70 lbs., lifting over 70 lbs. must be assisted. Occasional operation of a motor vehicle.
